Almost a year ago, I was walking down the aisle to marry my better half again. What do I mean by “again”? Well almost a year before that, R & I flew to Cyprus for our civil marriage (because in Lebanon, my home country, civil marriage is yet to be legalized). We packed our belongings and moved to the U.S. basically right after our civil marriage. Since the first wedding was just the two of us, we decided to throw another wedding a year later, to share these precious moments with our families and loved ones.
Preparing for the wedding from the U.S. wasn’t an easy task, specially with the 10 hour time difference between the two countries. But somehow I managed to do it, of course with the help of my amazing bridesmaids and lovely family.
Planning a wedding isn’t all cake tasting and smiles, but as soon as you walk down the aisle towards the love of your life, everything else seems silly.
One of my favorite moments of that night was my dad hugging R hard when he gave me to him… yup I’m tearing up again.
To make the day even more special, we decided to get married in the same church R’s parents got married in, almost exactly 30 years before, and also the same church he was baptized at.
Some say you won’t remember your wedding day very well from all the stress and excitement, but I remember how beautiful it was to share our special day with our beloved ones. Their love and happiness made our day even more memorable.
We’ve never really been a traditional couple, so we decided that our cake wasn’t going to be traditional either. The “naked cake” as they call it was a smashing hit.
Being married to your true love is something extremely special and blissful, but having the chance to marry your true love twice is just magical!
To many years to come!
