Wine, Paint & Fun

Last Thursday I got invited to a paint & sip night at Create Mix & Mingle. For those who aren’t familiar with the concept of paint & sip night, it’s a fun art “class” where you learn how to paint a specific painting while sipping on some wine and socialize with with fun loving people.SONY DSC SONY DSCEach session is led by an artist that will guide you and help you through the night. You really don’t need any artistic skills, anybody can do it. The point of the night isn’t just to paint but also to have fun and enjoy your time.

Create Mix & Mingle is a beautiful open space studio divided in two sections, the family section where they host sessions and classes for kids and parents, and the adult section, where the bar is!SONY DSCAs you enter the gorgeous studio, immediately you get greeted by one of the amazing ladies that ones it Deb & Angela. After you get signed in and get your free materials and kit of the night, you go pick your place and head to the bar to get your drink or as the lovely ladies of Create Mix & Mingle like to call it ” liquid inspiration”.SONY DSCSONY DSC SONY DSCYou are always surrounded by beautiful art hanging on the walls, some painted by the students, some by artists and some really beautiful pieces painted by the owners. These ladies with no artistic background show that you don’t need one to be talented! Keep it going gals!SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSCAfter a quick tour of the place with the lovely Angela, one of the owners, and few snaps of my favorite paintings there, the instructor of the night Marco called us all to begin the session.

Everyone had a drink in there hand as they sat down in front of their canvas. People were from all ages ( all above 21 of course). Some came in large groups, some with their best friend or sister and others came solo. But at the end of the night we were all one big happy group, all mingling together and sharing some laughs.IMG-20150213-WA0031Brushes in hand, we began to follow Marco’s steps and try to imitate his strokes, each one in her own way. Marco took his time to walk us step by step through the painting and answer our questions and help those who needed a little push.SONY DSC SONY DSCAfter a little more than two hours, the paintings were coming alive. Even though we were all painting the same painting each one had the touch of it’s painter and somehow they were all a little different in the most beautiful way possible. Everyone was thrilled at the end of the night with their masterpiece and couldn’t wait to share it with the world. SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

What do you think of mine?

SONY DSCThank God we were given aprons as by the end I was covered with paint. Don’t blame my clumsiness and messiness blame the alcohol. Oh wait, I only drank Perrier as I was driving back… Anyhow, you don’t need to worry about paint splashes as they are easily removed with water form on the skin but watch out for your clothes as they are a little more delicate.SONY DSCIt was a truly exciting and entertaining night, I haven’t had that much fun in a while. I can’t wait to come here again and if you live in the Bay Area you definitely need to give this studio a visit.

You can check the calendar here for the upcoming sessions or schedule a private session for you and your friends. Perfect way to through your best friend an epic surprise b-day party!

You can now profit from a great Groupon deal! check it out here.

Thank you again Create Mix & Mingle for this fun night, you will see more of me soon!
